Did not expect this drama to be nice when I chanced upon the trailer on Channel U. however, after watching a few episodes of it, i got addicted to it somehow, and even more when the main lead appears. simply cause he is too good-looking in the drama.
just a little introduction about this drama. yoon cha young was abandoned by her mother, yoo sung kyung, when she was borned. she was being sent to the orphanage before being brought into care by her grandmother. during her time in the orphanage, she met cha sung tan. however, cha sung tan was adopted by the lee family, who lost their child - lee ki hyun, in a car accident. as he was reluctant to live as lee ki hyun, he was locked up by his mother and lost his memory after an incident. from then on, he was renamed as lee ki hyun and he grew up together with jin je in, yoon cha young's rival and yoo sung kyung's stepdaughter.
yoo sung kyung is a cold-hearted mother who abandoned her own child in order to climb up her own ladder of success. she married into a weathly family and treated jin je in like her own daughter, and would do anything to protect her. she hates the sight of yoon cha young and did all sorts of things to make life difficult for her. upon knowing that yoo sung kyung is her birth mother, yoon cha young decided to seek revenge.
initially I was only interested in the loveline between yoon cha young and Lee Ki Hyun (Cha Sung Tan) because i find it very heart-wrenching yet touching, especially when lee ki hyun slowly regains his memory. however, as the story progress, i realized that i starts to look forward to the scenes between yoo sung kyung and yoon cha young. though yoo sung kyung is heartless towards her own daughter in most of the scenes, but those parts where she starts to show care and concern towards yoon cha young in the last few episodes really touched me. although it is considered to be a happy ending, but i was expecting more. instead of only giving up lee ki hyun to yoon cha young, why can't the director allows jin je in to be more generous - giving up lee ki hyun as well as allowing yoo sun kyung to acknowledge yoon cha young as her daughter. it will be an even more happy ending, especially when you know that yoon cha young had already forgiven her mother and yoo sun kyung had already decided not to hate yoon cha young as before but treat her as her daughter as well. the current ending is just... ...fustrating to me.
though it is a drama, but it still makes me wonder, in the case of yoon cha young - whether you could easily forgive someone who abandons you since birth and treats you like you aren't her own daughter or hate her for the rest of your life; and in the case of yoo sun kyung - whether you would really come to your sense, felt guilty for abandoning your own daughter, and decides to care for her and protect her in the future or continues to treat her heartlessly?
if i were to be yoon cha young, would i be that forgiving? maybe yes, if the situation is the same as in the drama. because she finally sees me as her daughter and not a stranger/enemy.
